about

Alludes to the Irish mythological figure, Niamh, in regards to the story of Niamh of Tír na nÓg. This iteration of Niamh was first described in a poem written in 1750 by Mícheál Coimín. 'Niamh' also references the Anarchist writer Voltairine De Cleyre and her poem, 'The Toast of Despair' (1892.)

lyrics

I cannot crush their curiosity
In my inherited wrath
I cannot accept your apathy
Push them down your dead-end path
I refuse to be condemned
To a world not made for me
To feel ashamed in standing tall
And sit silent whilst they bleed
Children read De Cleyre together
Ants speak of mighty things
Delusion-sick in perceived power
Fight the real enemy
So foolish are we to dream
Of more than we can reach
Of a future bright and fair
With only tyrants on their knees
I'll have to cut my losses
And embrace Tír na nÓg
Wave my peers off as I greet Niamh
For the sake of my own hope
Niamh, won't you let me up?
