Rosaleen Norton or 'Thorn' was the infamous occultist of Sydney's Kings Cross. Born in Dunedin, Aotearoa, Rosaleen is appreciated as a brilliant artist and devotee of Pan who stood defiant in the face of significant scandals regarding sex magic, and 'satanic worship' that defined her brilliant body of painting works. Rosaleen was also a strong writer, and her poetry has been referenced in this song.
lyrics
Lindsay's wraith descends on the Cross
In night supposedly as black as her heart
Caressed in primitive splendour
The horned god's daughter
Lord of the wild, enfold me
Master of death, enfold me
We're harbourside in your garden where
You pour me wine with timeless smirk
A witch's brew I will not drink
Though, sure to cure me
Lord of the wild, enfold me
Panther of night, enfold me
A universe beyond women bare-breasted
No vehicle can contain its golden light
No pantheon of untouchable gods
Will survive without living through us
Us together, difficult women
Being loathed is tough, but we are tougher
